Yes,the MAIN ISSUE of concern for   the BC pu

blic is  fear of that inevitable bunker oil ocean spill —-in our busy, environmentally sensitive waters, which generate billions in business revenue and taxes .!

Can we afford to continue our DITHERING .

Which  respected ,independent research institutions  has  Mr. Harper, and his oil pals contracted ,in the Canadian public interest,to carry out an independent SCIENTIFIC study to demonstrate his ‘world class’ bitumen spill handling system –in REAL OCEAN CONDITIONS ?

Alberta needs to market it’s abundant bitumen and BC needs to offer a reasonable ‘path’ to help gain the revenues which Canadians rely upon to help maintain our standard of living ! Come on smart leaders—LEAD,Please !—

There’s  one interim, ready made practical solution to get the bitumen to market.;..NOW —by  minimizing the probability and consequences of an ocean  bitumen spill. There is no perfect plan..but we can  restrict bitumen tankers to routes in

more OPEN waters..

The doable plan—build ONE (combined) BITUMEN PIPELINE SYSTEM from ALBERTA to PORT SIMPSON (or similar open ocean access ) terminal location. to ship to world markets…simple as that !

Export of our natural resources funds much of our economy.Ultimately government must approve vital supporting infrastructure ,‘in the national interest’ …that’s their job—but sometimes with political consequences ! ?
The BC public should accept a combined Enbridge and Kinder Morgan pipeline  system(from Alberta to Port Simpson) that disturbs minimum land and utilizes ocean  routes that offer a minimum threat of bitumen ocean spills in our busy, narrow ocean passes and shores ..
Until such time as Mr. Harper can demonstrate his world class bitumen ocean spill clean-up system (in real ocean conditions) ,
we must  minimize the probability and consequences of a ocean bitumen spill..Imagine no increased bitumen tanker traffic in Douglas Channel,Burrard Inlet and the Salish
Sea..Simple as that. !!
This we can do, now ..and get Alberta bitumen to market…the dithering must stop—time  for leaders to LEAD !
Or do we need to wait until Oct 2015 for the BC public to make the ultimate decision ?

Pipe liners can rely on  traditional bully tactics.. knowing that  Mr. Harper ,in “the Canadian National Interest “,could  ram the pipeline approvals through parliament..Recall when Al Monaco,Enbridge CEO and Jim Prentice,Alberta Premier, mused about moving out of Douglas Channel ..were they LISTENING to the public ?Each  was  ‘CORRECTED’ by Enbridge   as they chose to stick with the dumb Kitimat location !! !!
The wannabe pipeliners  ‘battle’ UNNECESSARILY with the public and First Nations …and dither ….WHILE their  market shrinks…
Come on leaders, together—contact Mr. Harper and request him to order the  pipe liners to change to a more publically acceptable ,bitumen pipelines scheme !! For instance, why not one common-sense ,open ocean, west coast terminal  location, near Port Simpson…which offers open  access to  world markets.
Luckily, this COULD provide  us with an opportunity to cancel the even dumber Kinder Morgan twinning scheme and bring ALL ALBERTA BITUMEN  to that west coast terminal..through ONE COMBINED PIPELINES SYSTEM,possibly in a common pipelines corridor—and relieve the BUSY southern BC and Washington State waters FROM increased  THREATS OF OCEAN BITUMEN SPILLS.
The time has come—for leaders to listen—and MAKE  it happen !
