Much of our worth is in the value of our natural resources, particularly our ‘green brand’ multi-billion dollar environment related industries-…Currently we have ‘THE PIPELINERS’ MESS ‘because they CHOSE to disregard public concerns— and may face another adversary soon ? The ARMY !
There is an issue which seems to have remained under the radar..The effort of the DFO, the public(your neighbour) , First Nations, industry, local business BCIT, who work diligently to re-establish many of our historically ‘abused’ fisheries rivers, streams, estuaries in Burrard Inlet AND THROUGHOUT BC etc..call it the silent ARMY—which coincidentally support another significant segment of the multibillion dollar BC economy.—the recreational, sport and commercial fisheries. !
I suggest that someone in the DFO ,who has better access to big picture , issue a story that recognizes and commends everyone who continually works to improve our ‘Green Label’..AND let the public, governments and pipeline proponents know what areas require special precautions or avoidance !!!
Better forewarned—and not to upset the volunteer ARMY !!
The Northern Gateway bitumen laden tankers are not welcome in the island bound Douglas Channel’ and other busy, local ,’tricky’ waters — a more open area ,north of Prince Rupert ,is suggested .
We’re not done yet !! The southern KINDER MORGAN TWINNING proposal is more frightening …we hear now that Kinder Morgan ‘ new pipeline pipeline capacity will be 780000 barrels per day—not 540000 barrels as signalled earlier !—allowing EVEN LARGER bitumen tankers —when the planned Second Narrows is dredging is completed ! The entire Kinder Morgan (KM) twinning project should be scrapped !
To get the ball rolling, Mr. Harper to instruct the NEB to declare ‘Condition 210 ’, instructing KM to join forces with Enbridge to ‘pipe’ dilbit from Alberta to ,north of Prince Rupert,…and on to world markets.
Such leadership is bound to bring a happier electorate to the polls in October 2015 !
PS—I just had a note from an old pipeline engineer,of the previous millennium —can we trust THESE wannabe pipe liners ‘?
Good question, Mr. Harper must decide !
